Occurrence

West Indies and northern Venezuela.


Ethnobotanical and medical uses

Traditional brooms made of the branches are applied to expel fleas.


Medicinal uses

To cure fainting, the smell of the leaves is used.

Fresh leaves applied on affected regions against spasms.

Macerated leaves are put in the ear to alleviate ear aches.

A cataplasm of the plant is rubbed against skin to treat varices.
